Mnenomyse: goddess of memory.
Mnemosyne is the mother of the Mnemonids, a nickname for the Muses.
She is a Titanid (daughter of Kronos and Rheia) and represented the Greek goddess of memory.
Especially for the “ancient peoples” who only passed on knowledge verbally. To Mnemosyne is attributed the invention of writing and mental arithmetic.
In the Vatican stands the world’s only statue of Mnemosyne, grave, pensive, her whole body even the hands covered by a tightly fitting robe.
In this imagination she preserves the terrestrial memory of the earth.
