Peacock tree

Musing: Peacock tree.

The peacock tree provides memory images from earlier childhood, this special tree was called “the cat tree,”
because long-eared owl sheltered in it. (In local dialect these are called cat owls)
It was a budded black balsam poplar (Populus trichocarpa), the leaf resembles that of the bodi tree.
The tree  stood in the meadows behind the forest, it was the favorite residence, a refuge for the artist in her childhood.
You can find the peacock appearance more often in the embroidery.
It stems from the large variable flock of birds her father kept, the peacock was the most imposing….
